We firmly believe that the education of the child is best developed from a strong partnership between home and school.
As a school we make every effort to build and maintain good relationships with parents and to communicate with them effectively.
We have two consultation evenings each year and a full written report of children's progress is sent home annually.
A newsletter is sent at regular intervals to keep parents informed about the life of the school.
There is a notice board situated in the entrance area with information of particular interest to parents.
National Curriculum documents and school policies are available and can be borrowed on request.
Many of our parents give valuable support in the classrooms by working with groups or individuals.
A parent information point computer is available in the school library for parents to use. This has internet access. Please ask at the office if you would like to use it at anytime.
We believe that homework effectively extends school learning. The school expects parents to become involved in their child's learning as this helps the children to understand that it is a continuous process not restricted to school hours.
According to the age and progress of each child, homework includes maths tasks, spellings to learn, handwriting practice, or games to play as a family.
We also hope that children will spend 10-15 minutes reading each evening.
We very much appreciate the support parents give to children with their homework.
Informal contacts between home and school are important.
We would like parents to feel that the school is a welcoming place and that the teachers are approachable.
Please feel free to come to us at any time.
We share your interest in the children and are always prepared to listen to any concerns whether large or small.
The Headteacher can be contacted before and after school, or an appointment can easily be made where necessary.
We have an active Parent Teacher Association which meets regularly to discuss ways in which they may help the school.
Events are organised which are both enjoyable and profitable and contribute to the life of the school.
Fund raising is by no means the only role of the PTA.
They provide a variety of services to parents and staff and are an effective link between home and school.
Complaints Procedure
If there is a problem we would like parents to speak to the class teacher in the first instance.
If parents feel that the problem is still not resolved they should contact the Headteacher who will try to achieve a satisfactory outcome informally.
Parent governors will be happy to listen to any concerns and queries, and take these up with the school on your behalf.
If the problem remains unresolved the governors have set procedures to deal with this.
Further details of these procedures are available from the Headteacher, the Chairman of Governors, or the Area Education Manager.
