Throughout their time at school the staff are continually monitoring children's progress in all areas of the curriculum.
Individual and group targets are set for children each term. These are shared with children and parents, and progress is discussed at parent interviews and during lessons.
Throughout the Foundation Stage, as part of the learning process, teachers assess the children's development in relation to the Early Learning Goals.
These assessments provide a picture of the whole child at the end of the Foundation Stage.
Children's spelling and reading is tested each term. Assessments in other subjects are on going and are used to help teachers to plan the next steps in each child's learning.
SATS
In the Summer Term Year 2, children carry out the required Standard Assessment Tasks and Tests (SATS). The class teacher assesses each child's development in speaking and listening, ready and writing and mathematics. Parents are informed of how their child has done at the end of the summer term as part of their child's annual school report. Years 3 and 4 take optional SATs in English and Maths.
