School Aims & Ethos

A working party of governors and staff drew up the following school aims which we believe capture the principles which underpin our work

We aim to:

  • Provide a broad and balanced curriculum (including the National Curriculum and the Agreed Syllabus for R.E.) with carefully planned continuity and progression from class to class

  • Ensure all children are actively and enthusiastically involved in their own learning and fulfill their learning potential

  • Provide a positive learning climate which is creative, stimulating, secure and orderly and inspires high levels of achievement

  • Develop children's self esteem and support their personal and social development by encouraging them to feel respected and valued and to respect and value others

  • Promote Christian values and guide children in their spiritual and moral development

  • Ensure all staff remain receptive to new ideas, are well supported in their roles and work together continually to develop good quality practice

  • Keep the school building safe, clean, well resourced and attractive, encouraging a sense of pride in all who use it

  • Manage the school effectively, giving governors, staff and parents opportunities to participate in the decision making process

  • Make parents welcome and keep them involved and well informed about the work of the school and the progress of their own children

  • Continue to move the school forward and promote the school as a positive focal point in the local community

As a Church of England Voluntary Controlled School we maintain strong links with the church. The children attend St. Mary's church for special celebrations and for a weekly assembly led by Revd Nick Cutler, a school governor. If parents wish to withdraw their children from daily assemblies and worship, we would ask parents to inform the Headteacher in writing at the time your child is admitted
